Apple’s big fall press conference is less than two hours away (10am PST), but that doesn’t mean the Internet is prepared to wait. Small “confirmations” of existing rumors are popping up all over the Web. Do not take this information as fact just yet, but it’s looking highly likely that the new iPhone will indeed be called the iPhone 5, it will have 4G LTE connectivity, a new iPod Touch is coming, a new iPod Nano is coming, and iTunes 11 may also be announced. Most of this information comes from 9to5Mac, which has done some rather sleuthy searching on Apple.com’s website. We’ve verified that if you search for “iPhone-5” on Apple’s site, a link to what appears to be a forthcoming press release appears in the search results. However, when you attempt to click on any of the articles, they return a 404 error, which could mean that they just aren’t live yet or that they aren’t real articles to begin with — … [Read more...] about iPhone 5 tidbits leak: LTE, iTunes 11, new iPods confirmed

Apple is building a cheaper, 8GB iPhone 4, according to two unnamed sources who spoke with Reuters. The new version of the iPhone 4 is currently in production at a Korean manufacturer, the sources say. The current iPhone 4, which was revealed during the 2010 Worldwide Developers Conference in June, only comes in 16GB and 32GB models. So, is this the second, less-expensive iPhone we’ve all been hearing so much about since early this year? At least one analyst doesn’t think so.“Apple may want to push into the emerging market segment where customers want to switch to low- to mid-end smartphones from high-end feature phones, which usually cost $150-200,” said Bonnie Chang, a Yuanta Securities analyst, who spoke with Reuters. “But I think for an 8GB iPhone 4 the price is hard to go below $200, so Apple will still need a completely new phone with low specifications for the emerging markets.”Still, it seems unlikely — but not impossible, of course … [Read more...] about Report: Apple building cheaper, 8GB iPhone 4; iPhone 5 due late-September

Did you forget to mark your calendar for the orgy of charts and numbers that is Apple’s legally mandated quarterly release of its financial results? If so, have no fear–I remembered to mark mine for next Tuesday, May 2, when Apple will release the results in the early afternoon (Cupertino time) and then offer some of its executives up to financial analysts in an hour-long telephone call. This is the season where Wall Street tries to intuit where Apple’s stock price will go, and those of us more focused on Apple’s products will scrape for any suggestion about how those products are selling and what might come next.It can be easy to joke about these quarterly rituals–I’ve already done it several times, and this is only my third paragraph–but they’re vital opportunities to take a rare glimpse into Apple’s inner workings and the thinking of Apple executives about the company’s business strategies. Yes, it’s a choreographed … [Read more...] about What to expect from Apple’s Q2 2017 earnings call on May 2
On Wednesday, Apple unveiled its next generation smartphone—the iPhone 5—with a new design and a set of improved features that IT and business professionals will care about. The next Apple earnings call is on July 26. In about a month, the Cupertino based company will be revealing the latest iPhone sales numbers. The iPhone is still the most important product for Apple driving most of the company's revenues. The previous quarter was historic in a negative way. For the first time, iPhone sales declined. Because of the strong correlation between revenues and iPhone sales, the year-over-year revenue also declined last quarter.Did iPhone sales rebound in the passed quarter? Earlier this month we carried a report that said that the iPhone SE is selling like hot cakes. The iPhone SE was released end of March. The Apple Q3 is the first quarter that will have the iPhone SE sales numbers included in the overall iPhone sales. The new iPhone is … [Read more...] about Apple Q3 2016 Earnings Call On July 26 Brings First IPhone SE Sales Numbers
