Joshua Topolsky has posted a mockup of the iPhone 5 based on information from "a variety of sources." The rumor consensus to date has been that the iPhone 5 won't be radically different from the current iPhone 4, basically just updated specs, but Topolsky says "that’s not the story we’ve been hearing at all." In a sketch supplied to us by a source (on which the image above is based), the home button is doing double duty as a gesture area; this falls in line with testing we’ve seen for gestures on the iPad, and our sources say that gestures are definitely coming in a future version of iOS. The home button will likely be enlarged, but not scrapped altogether. Furthermore, we’re hearing that the screen on the device will occupy the entire (or near to it) front of the phone, meaning almost no bezel. According to Topolsky, the screen will go up to 3.7-inches (while keeping the current resolution) and pixel density goes from 326 to 312ppi, … [Read more...] about iPhone 5 mockups surface
Iphone 5 lines on screen
My inbox seems to suggest that you want to know what I think the iPhone 5 will bring, and whether those thinking about buying an iPhone should wait for the new handset of go for the existing model. OK, first off, despite what some you might think, I DON'T have a super-secret iPhone 5 prototype here, or insider access to what Apple is up to. I do keep up with all the news and I do have a variety of supply chain insiders passing on information. Note: A word about insider information and tipsters. You will see some outlets report on every little tip or rumor that comes their way. In my experience care needs to be taken as most 'tips' turn out nonsense. Even tipsters that have shown themselves to be reliable in the past can't always be trusted. OK, first off, what we know for sure: The iPhone 5 is on the way ... unless Apple has decided to draw a line under the whole product line because they aren't selling or something (yes, that's a joke). The iPhone 5 … [Read more...] about iPhone 5
You might have noticed in the run up to the new iPhone release (which turned out to be the iPhone 4S and not the iPhone 5) that certain tech outlets spent a lot of time telling you what Apple's next iPhone was going to be like. Turns out only Apple knew what the next iPhone was going to look like. Let's take a look at some of the bold statements made in the run up to Apple's iPhone event yesterday that turned out to be pure nonsense. Sprint scores iPhone 5 exclusive thanks to $20 billion deal with Apple? - BGR 'I have been told that Sprint will be getting the iPhone 5 - yes the real iPhone 5, not the iPhone 4S - as an exclusive.' Get ready for another iPhone 'big bang' says J.P. Morgan - CNN Money 'We now expect two new iPhones. Our research indicates that there will be an iPhone 5 based on a lighter, thinner form factor that is GSM + CDMA capable, i.e., a "world-mode" smartphone. A second device (4-plus) based on the current iPhone 4 but with some minor … [Read more...] about The iPhone 5 stupid, it burns!
CNET - Finally, the iPhone we've always wanted The iPhone 5 completely rebuilds the iPhone on a framework of new features and design, addressing its major previous shortcomings. It's absolutely the best iPhone to date, and it easily secures its place in the top tier of the smartphone universe. Wall Street Journal - The iPhone Takes to the Big Screen Apple has taken an already great product and made it better, overall. Consumers who prefer huge screens or certain marginal features have plenty of other choices, but the iPhone 5 is an excellent choice. Engadget - Thinner. Lighter. Faster. Simpler. For the iOS faithful this is a no-brainer upgrade. This is without a doubt the best iPhone yet. This is a hallmark of design. This is the one you've been waiting for. TechCrunch - Apple Has Chiseled The Smartphone To Near Perfection Overall, the iPhone 5 is an absolute homerun. 0. phoneArena posted on 13 Jun 2012, 02:25 We've seen purported schematics, front and back panels of the next iPhone, but we haven't seen the thing assembled so far, and today's leak filled that inexcusable omittance. The assembled iPhone back looks very much stuffed in that unibody backplate that leaked last week with the funky speaker grills, seems to be machined pretty well for a fake, despite the scuffs and scratches, and the source says there aren't traces of Photoshop wizardry, but we won't know until we see the real thing...
