I have been using the iPad with one keyboard/case or another for years and find the combo to be a solid performer. When the iPad mini came along I didn't think it possible to use with a keyboard due to the small size of the tablet. That changed when ZAGG introduced two keyboards for the iPad mini that can be used for touch typing. I have written nearly 30,000 words with those keyboards. While not as efficient as bigger keyboards, these little ZAGG keyboards have a key layout that makes them highly functional in a pinch. I was excited to hear ZAGG was producing a similar keyboard case for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0. This follows shortly after Logitech announced a line of cases for Samsung Galaxy tablets . These two accessory makers feel the Samsung line of tablets is now garnering enough sales to support an accessory ecosystem. The ZAGGkeys Folio Keyboard for the Note 8.0 is just like the folio case for the iPad mini. The Note 8.0 snaps into the top lid of the folio which has the … [Read more...] about ZAGGkeys Folio Keyboard for Galaxy Note 8.0 (review)

The Note series surprised everyone, including Samsung, when it caught the public imagination and began to sell in large numbers. What was once thought of as comically big, has since become normal — the original Note, released in 2011, only had a 5.3-inch screen. We’ve come a long way since then and Samsung’s latest Note is a monster by comparison. We doubt there are many people using the original Note now, but the Note 5 is still going strong and so today we’re going to pit Samsung Galaxy Note 8 vs. Galaxy Note 5 to see if it’s time for an upgrade. Most people start to look for a new phone after around two years and that’s how long it has been since the Note 5 hit stores. Samsung skipped number 6 in the series, and the less said about the Note 7 the better, so the obvious choice to replace the Note 5 is the Note 8. Read more in our Galaxy Note 8 hands-on review. Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 is launching roughly a year after the disastrous debut of the recalled Note 7. But it also comes on the heels of Samsung’s newest flagship, the much-lauded Galaxy S8 Plus. So what are the differences? And in the battle of Note 8 vs. S8, who wins? The Note 8 is a bigger smartphone, for starters, and comes with Samsung’s S Pen stylus. It’s the first product in Samsung’s smartphone lineup with a dual camera, but it packs the same Qualcomm octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor you’ll find on the S8. And like the S8, it supports the company’s computer-replacing Dex Station and AI-powered Bixby assistant. But the Galaxy S8 Plus is impressive in its own right. We pit Galaxy Note 8 vs. Galaxy S8 Plus to see which is the better phone. It’s been roughly a year since reports of exploding batteries forced Samsung to yank the Galaxy Note 7 from shelves, and the South Korean company is gunning for redemption with the Galaxy Note 8. There’s a lot riding on it.That’s probably why Samsung played it safe with the Galaxy Note 8. The smartphone has the same iris-scanning tech and S Pen stylus as the Note 7, albeit a smaller battery. To be fair, the Note 8 has a larger, higher-resolution screen than the Note 7. It also features Samsung’s Bixby assistant, and it’s the first Samsung phone with dual cameras. While no one is upgrading from a Note 7 due to the recall, are the Note 8’s upgrades enough to justify the asking price? We pit Galaxy Note 8 vs. Galaxy Note 7 to find out. From the moment I first saw the four colors of the Galaxy Note 8 lined up, the choice was obvious. "We want the blue one," I told the video producer as we set up the shot for our hands-on video with the then-new device.Deepsea blue was the most compelling and lustrous of the four shades, which include maple gold (also pretty), the subtle orchid grey and your standard-but-boring midnight black. But US buyers only got the last two, until now. Starting Nov. 16, you'll be able to snatch up the blue Note 8 from Best Buy (in-store and online) and Samsung.com.Best Buy options: Note 8 for AT&T, Sprint and Verizon Unlocked Note 8Samsung.com option: Unlocked Note 8Read CNET's fully rated review below: … [Read more...] about The best Galaxy Note 8 color finally comes to the US
Editors' Note: We originally published this article on August 23, when Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note 8. We've updated the comparison now that we've had a chance to test and review Samsung's new phone. Two years is a lifetime for smartphones, as processing power, battery life and camera capabilities can all take a great leap forward in that timespan. And if you bought Samsung's Note 5 when it came out two years ago, you're likely ready to trade it in for a new phone, especially after the Galaxy Note 7's now-you-see-it-now-it's-recalled act last year. Samsung's newest big-screen phone, the Galaxy Note 8, marks a big step forward from 2015's Note. (Remember, there was no Note 6, as Samsung jumped straight from the Note 5 to the Note 7 in 2016.) But how big a step is this new model? Here's a closer look at how the specs compare between the new Note 8 and the Note 5 you've been holding onto. Galaxy Note 8 Vs. Galaxy Note 5 Specs … [Read more...] about Galaxy Note 8 Vs. Note 5: What to Expect if You Upgrade

Hot off the presses is the Galaxy Note 8, Samsung’s latest flagship phone, and it sports a dual camera system—a first for Samsung. The Galaxy S8, released in May, wasn’t able to topple the LG G6, our current pick for smartphone camera dominance, and so we’re interested to see the changes Samsung has made to its camera tech in the past six months. Can the new Note 8 beat the LG G6 where the S8 fell short? Keep reading to find out. Before we dig deeper into the results, let’s review some specs.
